On November 8th, 2009, the third annual World No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Tournament brought the world's best Brazilian jiu-jitsu and submission wrestling specialists to Long Beach.
The third annual World No-Gi Jiu Jitsu Tournament took place on Sunday, November 8th at California State University Long Beach. Hosted by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) and the United States Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (USBJJF), this world-class jiu jitsu tournament brought together the best grapplers on the planet to show off their Brazilian jiu-jitsu techniques. Josh Barnett Wins Ultra Heavy for Combat Submission WrestlingRepresenting Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW), a fighting system developed by mixed martial arts legend Erik Paulsen, Josh Barnett won the ultra heavyweight division at the 2009 World No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Tournament. Josh Barnett has been a professional MMA fighter for over ten years in promotions including Affliction, Sengoku, Pride, Pancrase, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and has wins over Jeff Monson, Pedro Rizzo, Randy Couture, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Dan Severn, and Yuki Kondo. When not fighting in the ring or cage, Josh is also the instructor for catch wrestling, an aggressive style of submission grappling, at Erik Paulsen’s Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW) Training Center in Fullerton, California. Baret Yoshida Takes First Place in FeatherweightAnother popular MMA fighter, featherweight Baret “The Finisher” Yoshida, was impressive in the 2009 World No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Tournament. Yoshida, flying the Undisputed flag, utilized his high level of Brazilian jiu-jitsu technique to fight his way to the first place medal in the featherweight category.
