Robson Moura travels the world holding seminars. Moura received a black belt at the age of 18 and this weekend he took his skills and black belt to Grand Rapids.
While in Grand Rapids, Moura offered instruction on the butterfly guard, chokes, armbar escapes and many other valuable lessons for the average to exceptional Jiu Jitsu practitioner. Moura is also having talks with other Jiu Jitsu legends, such as, Hermes Franca about having another seminar in West Michigan in the near future. About Robson MouraMoura is a 3rd Degree Black Belt under Andre Pederneiras and has been winning titles since the age of 13. He is a six-time world Champion, seven-time Brazilian Champion, a Pan-American Champion, has taken part in six Brazilian Team Championships and won many other awards. Nova Uniao Jiu Jitsu AcademyAlong with traveling the world and educating Jiu Jitsu students through seminars, Moura runs a Jiu Jitsu academy in the US. His academy is located in Tamps, FL. According to Moura’s official website, through years of planning Moura opened the gym in 2008 with the intent of “providing the best possible Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instruction.” In addition to his US gym Moura also directs two Brazilian Academies. Mixed Martial Arts CareerMoura stresses his Jiu Jitsu academy is not an MMA facility. Although he does train fighters to utilize their ground game he does not offer MMA instruction through his academies. Moura does however have fighting career. His professional record is currently 2-1-1 at 125 lbs. According to Sherdog his most recent fight in 2004 against Mamoru Yamaguchi at Shooto ended in a draw. Moura also has two wins by way of unanimous decision and one loss by way of split decision. Moura is extremely fast and can be considered a takedown and submission artist. Some of his seminar videos and training DVDs are available on the Internet and some of his most important victories, such as, the 1997 Mundials and the 2007 Pan-American matches. Brazil And Jiu-JitsuMoura was born and raised in Brazil. The Gracie family founded Brazilian Ju-jitsu in the early 1900’s. A Japanese Jiu-Jitsu expert, Maeda, emigrated to Brazil and Carlos Gracie became interested in the sport. After becoming an expert himself. Gracie broke off from the Japanese style of Jiu-Jitsu and began the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu along side his brothers Osvaldo, Gastão, Jorge and Hélio.
